Capital Tennis Association (CTA) was formed in 1994 as a not-for-profit organization to coordinate and promote the sport of tennis among the adult DC metropolitan LGBTQ community. CTA is one of the largest and most active LGBTQ sports organizations in the DC area, with more than 300 active players and members.
Membership
Membership is comprised of LGBTQ players and community allies. As a member of CTA, you are eligible to play in CTA's leagues and in-house tournament, attend CTA tennis socials and drill sessions, and sign up for CTA listservs.
Leagues
CTA organizes leagues year-round with Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons that start in January, March, May, and September, respectively. Registration opens approximately 4-6 weeks before each season begins, and members are eligible to sub into existing leagues. Leagues play indoors year-round and outdoors in the Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons.
Tournaments
Each Spring, CTA organizes the CTA Championships: singles and doubles in-house tournaments for our members. Each is held outdoors over separate weekends for players of all skill levels.
Each Summer, CTA participates in the Atlantic Cup, a quad-city competition between LGBT tennis groups in Boston, NYC, Philadelphia, and DC. Each group takes turns hosting the event.
Each Fall, CTA hosts the Capital Classic, DC's GLTA invitational tournament.
Socials
Throughout the year, CTA organizes happy hours, tennis socials, and a year-end holiday party. For more information, contact CTA's Social Director.
Volunteer
CTA is a completely volunteer-run organization. There are many opportunities to contribute to CTA:
