Time and Place

All matches will be played outdoors/indoors on both hard courts and clay courts at Rock Creek Tennis Center.  We will be kicking off tournament weekend with a few Friday night matches from 6pm to 10pm and then continue with a full day of matches Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm.  Matches may extend into the evening should there be any weather delays.

**We will NOT be accepting any scheduling requests.  If you register, it is assumed you are available to play the entire duration of the tournament.**

***You must be an active CTA member to register:  renew your membership

NOTE:  Registration fees have increased due to increased court costs.  CTA In-House tournaments are self-funded thru registration fees.

The CTA Championships Tournament Guidelines can be found HERE.

Divisions and Format

There are four separate draws based on skill divisions: OPEN/A, B, C, and D, to be dictated by CAPERS and/or GLTA ratings (details are explained below under Rules for Registration).

There will be two phases of tournament match play: Round Robin Phase, in which teams will be assigned to a group, with one seeded team in each group, and play at least three matches; and Phase Two of tournament, where players with the best winning record from group matches will advance to single elimination play, either as quarterfinals (only if large draw), semifinals (most typical), or straight to a final (for small draw).

Match format during the Round Robin phase will be best-of-three-set matches.  A first-to-10 points (win by 2) super tiebreak shall be played as the deciding third "set" if needed (in lieu of a normal third set).  Format for the elimination round matches will be finalized at the end of the Round Robin phase depending on draw size, scheduling, weather, etc.

Determining Group Winners

Group winners advancing to elimination brackets will be determined in the following order:

1.     Most match wins.

2.     Games won and lost percentage

3.     Head-to-head results, if (only) two teams have the same number of group match wins and "games won and lost percentage."

4.     Coin flip.

Note, some elimination brackets may need completion from best 2nd place finishes in group play (same ranking criteria, 1-4, will be applied).

Match format modifications may be made at the discretion of the tournament directors due to weather or time related constraints.

Fast play during all matches will be encouraged and monitored. Seven-minute warm-ups (max), fast between points, brief change-overs, etc.  Please help us stay on schedule!

Rules for Registration

Any player with a current CTA membership is eligible to register.  Please ensure that your contact information in your CTA profile (cell phone and email address) is up-to-date.  Tournament updates will be sent via email and texting will be used to assign courts and for players to report match scores.

CTA CAPERS doubles ratings (as of close of registration on June 17, 2024) will be used to determine division of play eligibility and players cannot play in a lower division than what their CTA CAPERS rating qualifies them for.  If a player does not have a numeric CTA CAPERS rating, the alpha self-rating will be used along with consideration of their GLTA and/or USTA rating if they have one.

As in past years, Open and A divisions will be combined into one division.  Open players must play with a player in a lower division (i.e., two Open players cannot play together).

CAPERS Doubles Rating:

- 4.35 and above must play OPEN (and partner with a player in a lower division)

- 4.0 - 4.34 must play A or higher

- 3.5 - 3.99 must play B or higher**

- 3.0 - 3.49 must play C or higher**

- 2.99 and below D or higher**

**The team must adhere to the capers requirement of the higher rated player (i.e., If one player is rated 2.93 and the partner is rated 3.43 - that team MUST play C level or higher).

NOTE: Previous winner - if a doubles team with same players who won the B, or C division in the year prior (2023), that team (if playing together) must play up a division level.  **See CTA history of All-Time Doubles Champions**

Any questionable registrations shall be approached on case-by-case basis, as policy does allow for appeals to tournament directors to register in a draw that may not be consistent with current policy.  If you have any questions or unsure of your current rating, please do not hesitate to ask the tournament directors.
